The
5th grade students at Jessieville Middle School made a flag to represent that
we are one with our community.
At
the beginning of the school year, the 5th grade students began learning about
the 50 states. Each day, students used technology to look up information about
each of the states. They researched things such as imports, exports, size,
population, state flag and state seal. While doing this daily assignment,
students noticed that every state has its own flag and seal. They thought that
they would like to have a flag and seal for Jessieville School and community.
The project started. Students drew up pictures of flags and voted on the one
they liked best and then school community supporters were added to the flag.
The design was taken to Sew Perfect for completion. For two weeks, 5th graders held
fund raisers at recess to earn the funds for the project. When completed, a
states PowerPoint, song and flag were presented to our superintendent Mr. Curry during an assembly on November 20, 2012.
